The Oxford Dictionary defines phishing as: The fraudulent practice of sending emails purporting to be from reputable companies in order to induce individuals to reveal personal information, such as passwords and credit card numbers.
When you receive one of these e-mails you may believe it’s from who the sender claims to be – cell phone companies, banks, and shipping companies are the most popular – because you may do business with the actual companies you are more likely to click a link believing it to be legit.
